The Martinez Museum

Opened in June of 1976, the historic two-story Borland House is filled with photographs, artifacts and documents generously donated by descendants of the pioneer families who settled in Martinez.

Justine Selleck, museum director, and her loyal band of about two dozen volunteers, lovingly care for the memorabilia, changing displays several times a year and cleaning, cataloging and storing the historic treasures.

Each year, there is a Christmas Open House.

Researchers are delighted with the historical society’s comprehensive county history library and newspaper clipping file. Among the other items of historical interest are the historical society’s collection of maps and a massive collection of historic photos and artifacts.

The Martinez Museum is at 1005 Escobar St. Visitors to the city and the museum may enjoy a walking tour of downtown Martinez that includes historic buildings and locations. A brochure may be obtained at the museum. More Information at: http://www.martinezhistory.org
